The CrossFit Love and SicFit Deadlift Challenge
50 reps of Deadlifts for time: Male=225lbs, Female=185lbs
Austin Maleollo and Jason Ackerman are class acts. So is Joe Petrusky from CrossFit Love. Seems like good people are just naturally attracted to this community where everyone is so willing to help and support one another. Austin and Jason came down for the day to spend some time at the club hanging out and talking to the kids. He gave a 25 minute talk to the kids about his own journey and the sacrifices he has and continues to make along the way to make a name for himself and be at the top of his game. He owed much of his success in the sport of CrossFit to good old fashion hard work and a very disciplined nutrition regimen (Paleo/Zone). He eats 25 blocks a day at 165lbs and rarely if ever "cheats" or derails from his diet. He trains hard 3 times a day 6 days a week and always gets a full night's sleep of at least 8 hours to help him recovery adequately from the high volume.
The kids have various aspirations from going to college to someday competing in California at the Games and after hearing Austin share his story and offer his advice, the message was loud and clear: If you want something bad enough, there is nothing stopping you. Work harder than the next guy and put in 100% effort. 99% wont do either. 100% or stay home (or do something else worth doing your best).
The Deadlift Challenge itself was also a lot of fun and of course Austin put on a show for everyone in the house finishing the 50 Deadlifts in 58 seconds.
