I can't begin to tell you how proud I am to coach these kids everyday. Each day, a group of teens show up at the gym with an earnest desire to learn, improve, help others, help themselves and work hard to be the best they can be. It happens everyday right before my eyes. These kids want it. They want nothing more than to succeed.
I must admit we have some very good athletes that train at Steve's Club. We have kids putting up some very good numbers in the strength and Oly department. We have some kids who can go toe to toe with just about anyone when it comes to bodyweight movements.
But more important than the athletic performances at Steve's Club is the community. The community is what makes our Club what it is. It's why kids flock to Steve's Club in the freezing cold of winter in January.
I can go on and on with stories and first hand experience of seeing these kids seeing them help each other out lending a hand when someone needs assistance, exchanging some positive words to help motivate or cheer up a fellow member, spending time offering tutoring in the side room, giving some one a ride home, sharing food or a drink, giving someone a high five…but quite frankly, its too difficult to try to describe the environment and atmosphere at Steve's Club.
It has to be felt and seen. While I've post photos of the kids everyday to highlight what we do, the real magic is what happens in between our walls from 4p to 530p everyday.
If you live in the Camden/Pennsauken area, I encourage you to visit our Club anytime so I can share this wonderful community with you firsthand.
If you are are interested in joining our Club, come over and let us meet you. Our doors are always open and you are welcome to check things out and see if it is for you.
